Grant Butterworth has worked in a wide range of planning roles in City environments since 1987 when he was confronted with the aftermath of inner-city riots of the 1980’s.
Prior to his current role as Head of Planning at Leicester City Council, he was previously Head of Planning & Transport Strategy at Nottingham City Council and Divisional Planning Manager at Liverpool City Council.
He has dealt with many varied planning, project, programme management and political challenges over this period
In his current role he seeks to shape Leicester’s growth through improved planning, high quality design and sustainability actions across policy development, planning management and project implementation activities.
He remains committed to the case for planners and planning to be better empowered to make the world a better place.
